The Scarlet Macaw is one of the most brightly colored and recognizable parrots.
As a companion, they bond strongly with their family and need lots of attention.
If they do not receive the right amount of attention, they can become nippy.
Their mimicking ability is considerable; however, the words are not as clear as some other species.
In the wild, Scarlet Macaws inhabit the lowland rain forests of Central America and north/central South America. They are listed on Appendix One of CITIES as endangered.
These macaws nest in hollows in trees, and the young leave the nest after 90-104 days of care by the parents.
