Are there any nutritional differences between the colored pieces in the exact® Rainbow diets?
The exact® Original and Rainbow diets are formulated separately for each type of bird and small animal. The sunflower heart shaped pieces found in the Original Parrot and different colored pieces in Rainbow Parrot are all formulated to have the same balanced nutrition in each bite. There is a different formula for each type of bird or small animal exact® product, such as the colored shapes found in the Rainbow Cockatiel are different compared to the Parakeet, or Canary/Finch products. exact® Rainbow Rabbit is formulated specifically for rabbits and does not contain the vitamin C or balanced nutrients guinea pigs need. exact® Rainbow Guinea Pig does not contain the balance of fiber and other nutrients rabbits need. There are different formulas for the specific bird and/or small animal.back to top

Peanut Allergies - Do you have a food that is free of peanuts and/or tree nuts?
Peanuts and other tree nuts are typical ingredients for bird and small animal foods and treats. Many of the foods and treats we manufacture do contain nuts, some do not. For specific ingredient lists check the product descriptions on our website. We do process products with nuts within the facility therefore we cannot say we have a manufactured product that is free of peanuts and/or tree nuts. To assist consumers we are now adding an allergen statement to product packages manufactured by Kaytee.
For products containing nuts
Allergen information: Contains peanuts and/or other tree nuts.
For products without nuts
Allergen information: Manufactured in a facility that processes peanuts and other tree nuts.back to top

When will my baby bird start weaning from hand-feeding to adult food?
When you begin to notice your baby bird is picking things up then you can begin to introduce adult food to the bird. As you see the baby is eating the adult food you will begin to cut back on the amount of hand feeding formula being offered. For information on the approximate age of weaning and helpful tips on weaning please see the Technical Focus, Weaning Tips.back to top
Can I feed my bird or small animal a product formulated for a different bird or small animal?
We recommend feeding your bird or small animal a food that has been specifically formulated for your particular bird or animal as they have their own nutritional needs. Parakeets have different nutritional needs compared to cockatiels and finches therefore should have a diet formulated accordingly. Guinea pigs require a food formulated with appropriate levels of vitamin C or they will get scurvy and rabbits need a diet high in fiber. Hamsters and gerbils do have similar nutritional needs and can eat the same foods. It is important to feed your bird or small animal a diet that is specifically formulated to provide the nutritional balance intended for that particular bird or animal. If you have any questions about what to feed a specific bird or small animal please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to assist you.back to top
