Meet our Pet Expert, Marc Morrone
Marc Morrone, our Spokesperson for KAYTEE’s Pet Ownership Campaign has had a lifelong passion for small animals. He knows all about them. Marc owns a Pet Shop located in Rockville Center, New York called “Parrots of the World,” which he opened in 1978. Marc’s Shop has all kinds of small companion animals. He calls them “Pocket Pets” because of their small size. Marc has devoted his life and career to the care and comfort of small animal pets, and has authored four books dedicated to the education of pet owners.

Marc Morrone’s family of pets often co-stars with him and other animals while he talks to audiences about caring for pets. Marc and his beloved pet menagerie have made appearances on “The Martha Stewart Show” and he has written contributing pet care articles for her magazines. His most popular pet is Harry the Scarlet Macaw, Marc’s constant companion for over twenty years! Marc’s other favorite avian family member is Darwin the African Grey Parrot. Other beloved pets of Marc’s include Harvey the Flemish Giant Rabbit, Prunella the Agouti, Mel and Seymour Goldstein, two guinea pigs, and his prairie dogs Bubbles and Squeak.Marc Morrone and KAYTEE Take a Satellite Media Tour.

The KAYTEE sponsored Pet Ownership Campaign launched on June 23 with a coast-to-coast Satellite Media Tour hosted by Marc Morrone. Marc took our pet ownership message public through media interviews across the country which were broadcast from his Pet Store in New York. He visited live with news staffs of approximately 20 news stations and recorded a dozen video vignettes called “Pocket Pets with Marc Morrone.” He explained the personalities of individual small pet animals and birds to help parents choose the right pet for their children and to emphasize how easy and inexpensive it is to care for them. These videos were sent to180 television outlets nationwide for broadcast.
Here Marc talks with children about the responsiblities of pet ownership. This was an event held at the Wisconsin State Fair.
