Water is one of the basic needs of survival. Surprisingly, simply adding a birdbath to your yard can attract a number of bird visitors that may not come to feeders.

Birdbaths and fountains come in many shapes and sizes. Some things to consider are:

Running water attracts birds.
Providing a heat source in the areas of the country where it is cold.
Clean often by completely removing all water, debris and disinfecting with hot soapy water or 1 part bleach and 1 part water. Let dry, then add clean water.
Provide cover, a place for birds to fly to when predators show up.
