Most of the birds that visit feeders are in the order of birds known as Passeriformes.
The passerines, perching or song birds, make up the largest order of birds in the world, about three-fifths of all living birds.
In the U.S., there are 29 different families of passerines, including sparrows, finches and nuthatches, to name a few.
All perching birds have a common foot with three toes forward and one toe back.
Remember a variety of foods and feeder types will attract a greater variety of birds.
