The migration of billions of birds is one of nature's most awe-inspiring and mysterious spectacles. The Sierra Nevada mountain range and just east of the Rocky Mountain Range are two of the major flyways found in the West. Some hot spots for viewing migration include Point Reyes Bird Observatory in California, Bear River National Wildlife Refuge in Utah and Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico.

Select a bird in the pulldown menu above and learn about six species found in the Southwest.
